About Bill Heigh – How I got to today

This is my site about mapping, GIS, and other topics of interest to me.

I’m a big fan of education, I love to learn and I love to teach. My background is land surveying, mapping, databases and building task automation tools.

I attended Oregon Institute of Technology in the early 80’s and earned my BS degree in Civil Engineering Technology. I worked at several engineering firms doing surveying, drafting maps and writing technical specs for street construction projects.

After several years as an engineering tech, I found a job opening at an electric utility, applied and got the job. I stayed in the industry for the next 36 years before retiring in 2023.
